Shiro-urushi

Western Food & Cafes

A café featuring Polish ceramic mugs loved by the owner, who has traveled the world, alongside Echizen lacquerware finished in “white urushi,” meticulously crafted by the late Ryuzo Okubo, a contemporary master craftsman and the owner’s wife’s father. This is Shiro-urushi, a warmly inviting space created by the harmony of its tableware. This small café, with just a single table, gently embraces those who visit. A moment of pure contentment unfolds with aromatic coffee or tea served in beautifully hand-painted mugs by Polish artisans, accompanied by homemade sweets that nourish both body and soul. Opened in 2021 beside Midori Photo Studio as a place of rest for visitors to the Echizen Washi production area, this café is conveniently located just an 11-minute walk from the Papyrus Pavilion.
