Completed in 1932 (Showa 7) as the second department store built in Fukui Prefecture (formerly Oi Department Store).
Dreaming of Tokyo’s Mitsukoshi Department Store, the current director’s grandfather, Fujisuke Oi, planned it from the late Taisho period, and European-style architecture called "Kinsei Fukkō-shiki" (modern revival style), based on Renaissance architecture, was applied, making it an extremely valuable modern building in a regional city.
Inside the store, rare items such as the mannequin "White Fairy" created by Seiji Togo, woodblock prints from the early Meiji period, and a custom-made American cash register with seven departments used in the early Showa period are exhibited.
