Factory Tours
Founded in 1909, this handmade washi factory produces sliding door paper and decorative washi. The company has grown from a wholesaler's subcontract factory for hoshoshi to a factory specializing in fusuma-gami, and has continued the handmade pattern technique established by its previous generation in the early Showa period (1926-1989). Furthermore, Osada Paper Mills has been producing Japanese paper accessories using paper made in-house for more than 40 years. In recent years, the company has also developed accessories made from 「rubbed paper」, which is processed by rubbing handmade Japanese paper. We pursue 「a lifestyle of washi that continues to evolve with the times」 while preserving tradition by making the most of the characteristics of each of the materials used to make washi: Kozo, Mitsumata, Ganpi, and Hemp.
