Bero-tei Saigama

Sweets & Snacks & Sake

Ceramic artist Eiko Iwakuni has been creating pottery while traveling around the world. She is currently based at Berotei Saigama in the Hakusan area of Echizen City, where she produces a broad range of works — from her signature ceramic sculptures to everyday tableware that is widely regarded as practical, easy to use, and interesting in daily life, as well as various objects and accessories. Many of her works incorporate perspectives of women and minorities, and some carry messages directed toward society. At the gallery space, visitors can casually view and purchase works, and the studio also offers pottery classes for groups of two or more (by phone reservation, approximately 1.5 hours, ¥3,500 per person including tax). The adjoining “Latin American Folk Pottery Museum” is also a must-see. Why not experience Eiko Iwakuni’s world up close and try creating your own unique piece?
