Opened in 1929 (Showa 4), the public hall was the cultural and administrative center of Takefu and served as a landmark.

Although demolition was considered due to aging, the building was preserved and repurposed in response to many citizens' requests, and it was reborn in its current form in 1995.
In 2005, it was registered as a national tangible cultural property, and it now serves as a museum exhibiting the history of Echizen City and related artifacts.
On the second floor, there is a VIP room restored based on the original design drawings, where visitors can experience the atmosphere of the public hall from the early Showa period, decorated with furniture and furnishings.
