Misaki Tansu Store

Heritage & Artisan Crafts

Founded in the Edo period by the first-generation owner, Hansaburo Misaki, near Fuchu Castle on Tansu-machi Street, this long-established tansu (wooden chest) store is now run by its eighth-generation owner, who has inherited the traditional craftsmanship. For over 150 years, the store has been manufacturing and selling storage furniture tailored to the times, including Echizen tansu, which were used as safes by merchant families, and Takefu paulownia chests, traditionally crafted as bridal furniture. Currently, we are manufacturing wooden furniture and toys that are in line with today's lifestyle while keeping in line with tradition. We also offer tours, so please feel free to contact us.
