In the Imadate area of Echizen City, the “International Woodblock Print Laboratory” has been completed and began full-scale operation on April 21. The “International Woodblock Print Laboratory” is a research studio that makes use of a traditional Japanese house approximately 100 years old. It was established mainly as a facility for overseas artists to learn Watercolor Woodblock Prints. A 35-day training program is held based at this location. It is scheduled to be held five times a year, with a capacity of six people per session. Mainly artists from Europe and the United States stay and learn the history and techniques of Watercolor Woodblock Prints under the guidance of instructors.
