Souja Daijingu is a shrine that was established to enshrine multiple deities in one place for the provincial governors’ pilgrimage and offering of sacred treasures.

The existence of this shrine is also considered one of the pieces of evidence indicating that this area was once the provincial capital.
It is said that during the Sengoku period, the shrine was relocated to its current site when Fuchu Castle was expanded by Toshiie Maeda.
The main hall, completed in 1926 (Taisho 15), features the nagare-zukuri style, while the worship hall is built in the irimoya-zukuri style; both have steel sheet roofing and reflect the dignified character of a shrine once associated with a provincial capital.
It is affectionately known and cherished by local residents as "Osonja-san.
